Carbon Clean Secures Record £121 Million for Carbon Capture Technology
Carbon Clean, a UK-based cleantech firm specializing in carbon capture technology, has secured a record £121 million in Series C funding led by US oil giant Chevron
The investment will be used to scale production of the company's fully modular technology, which aims to overcome the challenges of cost and scale in widespread adoption of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS)
The funding follows a $22 million Series B round in 2020 and comes amidst a surge in investments into European climate tech.
ProblemEnergy
"Making industrial processes, such as steel and cement production, more environmentally friendly by capturing excess carbon before it enters the atmosphere."
Solution
"Carbon Clean's proprietary technology can compress the size of carbon capture equipment, increasing efficiency and making it more cost-effective to store captured carbon on a large scale, thus enabling widespread adoption of CCUS in heavy industries."
