Newcells Biotech Secures £5.25 Million to Accelerate Drug Discovery with 3D Tissue Models
Newcells Biotech, a Newcastle-based biotech company specializing in human stem cell models for drug discovery, has secured £5.25 million in funding from Mercia and the North East Venture Fund (NEVF)
This investment will be used to accelerate the company's growth plans, including international expansion in the USA, launching new products, and expanding its 3D tissue modeling capabilities for drug discovery
The funding will also support the development of models for liver and lung conditions, as well as the commercialization of kidney and retina treatment models in the North American market.
ProblemHealthcare
"Drug discovery is a costly and time-consuming process with a high failure rate, often due to the limitations of traditional preclinical models in accurately predicting drug efficacy and safety in humans."
Solution
"Newcells Biotech provides highly realistic 3D tissue models generated from human stem cells, offering a superior platform for drug discovery. These models allow for more accurate prediction of drug responses in humans, potentially reducing drug development costs and timelines while improving safety profiles. "
