Enough Secures €40 Million to Scale Up Fungi-Sourced Protein Production
Enough, a Scottish fungi-sourced protein company, has secured €40 million (£34.2 million) in equity funding to expand its operations
The company's mycoprotein, ABUNDA, is a plant-based alternative protein source that can be used in various food products
The funding will be used to double the company's headcount and scale up production
Enough claims its protein is more sustainable than traditional protein sources, reducing water, feed, and CO2 emissions significantly
The funding round was led by World Fund and CPT Capital, with previous investors AXA IM Alts, HAL Investments, Onassis Group, Tailored Solutions, and Scottish Enterprise participating.
ProblemFood & Beverage
"Creating sustainable protein sources that are environmentally friendly and can meet the growing demand for alternatives to animal products is challenging."
Solution
"Enough provides a sustainable and scalable protein source called ABUNDA, a mycoprotein produced by fermenting grain sugar with fungi. This process uses significantly less water, feed, and emits less CO2 compared to traditional meat production, offering a more environmentally friendly alternative."
