Kelpi Secures £320K to Scale Up Seaweed-Based Bioplastic Packaging
Kelpi, a Bath-based sustainable biotech startup, has secured £320,000 in pre-seed funding to scale up the development of its bioplastic packaging made from seaweed
The funding includes a £95,000 grant from Innovate UK's Combined Investor Partnership program, as well as investments from Bristol Private Equity Club (BPEC) and other angel investors
Kelpi's bioplastic packaging is designed to be compostable, marine-safe, and carbon-negative, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional fossil fuel-based plastics
The company aims to replace single-use plastics with its seaweed-based bioplastic, contributing to a reduction in plastic pollution and a move towards a more sustainable future.
