Elvie Raises $6 Million to Expand Femtech Offerings
Elvie, a UK-based femtech startup, has raised $6 million in Series A funding led by Octopus Ventures, with participation from AllBright
The company will use the funds to expand into 25 new countries and launch a second device aimed at new mothers
Elvie's first product, a kegel tracker and app, has been successful, generating $1 million in revenue in 2016
The company aims to become the world's leading health tech brand for women.
ProblemHealthcare
"1 in 3 women experience pelvic floor problems at some point in their lives, and the figure among pregnant women and new mothers is even higher, reaching up to 80%. The NAFC (National Association for Continence) estimates that 200 million people around the world suffer from various forms of urinary incontinence and this number is likely to continue to grow with the ageing population."
Solution
"Elvie is developing smarter technology for women’s health and lifestyle. Their first product is a kegel tracker and app which is recommended by professionals across the health and wellness space. Their second product, which the company will launch before the end of the year, is aimed specifically at new mothers."
