Graphcore Raises $30 Million to Accelerate Machine Intelligence Chip Development
Graphcore, a UK-based machine intelligence chip maker, has secured $30 million in a Series B funding round led by Atomico
The funding will be used to accelerate roadmap development, build a developer community around the company's Poplar graph framework software, and establish Graphcore as a leader in the market for machine intelligence processors
The round also includes participation from existing investors such as Amadeus Capital, Robert Bosch Venture Capital, C4 Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, Draper Esprit, Foundation Capital, and the Samsung Catalyst Fund.
ProblemTechnology
"Building new machine intelligence models takes a long time because current processors are slow. This slows down innovation."
Solution
"Graphcore has built a new type of processor called an IPU that is much faster than existing processors. This allows developers to build new machine intelligence models much faster, accelerating innovation."
