Matter Secures €175.7k Investment to Scale Up Microplastics Solutions
Matter, a UK-based technology startup focused on tackling the microplastics crisis, has secured a €175.7k investment from the British Design Fund
Founded by former Dyson engineer Adam Root, Matter develops innovative solutions for capturing, harvesting, and recycling microplastics
The company's retrofit filter for washing machines aims to reduce microplastic pollution from clothing
Matter is also working on developing technologies to reuse captured microfibres, creating a closed-loop system for sustainable reuse
The investment will support Matter's efforts to scale up its solutions for domestic, commercial, and industrial markets globally.
ProblemTechnology
"Millions of microplastics are released into the ocean from washing machines due to synthetic fibers in clothing."
Solution
"Matter develops filters for washing machines that capture microplastics, preventing them from entering the water system, and enabling their potential reuse."
