Verna Secures €2.5 Million to Expand Nature Tech Solutions
Verna, a UK-based startup working at the intersection of nature and climate tech, has secured a new equity investment, bringing its total funding to over €2.5 million
The company encourages carbon and biodiversity to be seen holistically, looking at the linkages to make better decisions for our planet
Verna's ForestFounder software system finds and assesses sites for tree planting and has gathered a range of large customers including National Highways, the Environment Agency, and Forestry England
The new investment will be used to widen Verna's tools beyond tree planting, identifying the best carbon and biodiversity options for land across a range of interventions – such as peatland restoration and grassland enhancement.
ProblemTechnology
"making the best decisions about how to use land to address the climate and nature crises, where biodiversity and carbon are interconnected and complex to manage"
Solution
"Verna uses geospatial data science to help landowners, investors, and policymakers use land in a way that reduces carbon, enhances biodiversity, and generates sustainable returns, via tools like ForestFounder software system for tree planting and other interventions"
