Material Evolution Secures €17.3 Million to Scale Low-Carbon Cement Production
Material Evolution, a UK-based company producing low-carbon cement from industrial waste, has raised €17.3 million in Series A funding led by KOMPAS VC
The investment will be used to scale production of its cement, which has an 85% lower carbon footprint than traditional cement
The round also included participation from Norrsken VC, CircleRock Capital, and strategic investment from SigmaRoc
Material Evolution's innovative process replaces energy-intensive kilns with an alkali-fusion process, producing cement at ambient temperatures from industrial waste
The company has achieved significant market traction with advanced offtake agreements amounting to over 35,000 tonnes of its product entering the market.
ProblemManufacturing
"reducing the carbon footprint of the cement industry, which is responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions"
Solution
"developing and scaling the production of low-carbon cement from industrial waste streams, using a proprietary process that eliminates the need for energy-intensive kilns and fossil fuels"
