SimplyCook Secures £4.5M Series A Funding for its Flavor-Focused Recipe Kit Service
SimplyCook, a recipe kit service that focuses on flavor ingredients, has raised £4.5 million in Series A funding led by Octopus Investments
Unlike other recipe kits, SimplyCook doesn’t send all of the fresh ingredients but rather provides recipe cards and “ingredients kits,” which are herbs, spices, sauces, and other extras needed to cook each meal
The company argues that its flavour kits have broader mass-market appeal than fresh food recipe kits, as flavour products are used by over 50 percent of consumers weekly
SimplyCook has launched its kits in physical retail stores, pursuing a hybrid online/offline model
The Series A funding will be used to invest in technology and sales & marketing to drive continued growth across the UK and beyond, including international launches, and to invest in technology to aid operations.
ProblemFood & Beverage
"Cooking can be time-consuming and difficult, especially for people who don't have a lot of culinary experience. Many people rely on ready-made meals or takeaways, which are often unhealthy and expensive. Traditional flavouring brands are popular, but they don't provide much guidance or inspiration for creating delicious meals."
Solution
"SimplyCook offers a subscription-based service that provides recipe cards and ingredient kits with herbs, spices, sauces, and other extras needed to cook delicious meals. The kits are designed to be easy to use and affordable, making it easier for people to cook at home and enjoy healthy, flavorful meals. SimplyCook is also available in physical retail stores, making it even more accessible to consumers."
