Treefera Raises $12 Million for Forestry Data Platform
Treefera, a forestry data platform founded by former executives from JPMorgan and UiPath, has secured $12 million in Series A funding led by AlbionVC
The startup, which uses satellite and drone imagery to map forests and assess conservation projects, has grown rapidly since its pre-seed round in September 2022
Treefera's data is used by companies working on deforestation prevention and reforestation projects, as well as by insurance companies and asset managers
The funding will be used to expand the platform and hire new employees.
ProblemTechnology
"Currently it's difficult to prove the real impact of carbon offsetting schemes and there is a lack of trust in the sector due to poor quality carbon credits."
Solution
"Treefera uses satellite and drone imagery to monitor forest conservation projects, helping to ensure the effectiveness of projects and restore trust in the carbon credit market. This data helps companies understand the impact of their projects and monitor their supply chains, providing transparency and accountability."
