Fat Lama Raises $10 Million to Expand Rental Marketplace
Fat Lama, a London-based startup that offers a fully insured peer-to-peer rental marketplace for almost anything, has raised $10 million in Series A funding
The round was led by Blossom Capital, with participation from Atomico and existing backer Y Combinator
Fat Lama's mission is to connect people with spare stuff to those that need it, and the company is looking to expand its operations to new cities.
ProblemTechnology
"People need to buy expensive items for occasional use. They can't rent them because they are either expensive to rent, require a large deposit, or have too much risk for the lender. "
Solution
"Fat Lama offers an insured peer-to-peer rental marketplace. Users can rent almost anything, and the platform is fully insured for up to $30,000. It uses risk-profiling technology and identity checks to ensure safety. "
