Bodle Technologies Raises £6 Million for Low-Power Reflective Display Tech
Bodle Technologies, a startup spun out of Oxford University, has raised £6 million in Series A funding to develop its new type of 'reflective' display technology that promises to use a lot less power
The company's technology could be used in wearables, Internet-of-Things (IoT) displays and eReaders
The key aspect of a solid-state reflective display is that it isn’t back-lit
Instead, it’s a solid state screen that uses other sources of light (be it sun, electric room lighting, etc) to illuminate the screen.
ProblemTechnology
"The battery life of wearables, IoT devices, and smartphones is often a significant barrier to mainstream adoption."
Solution
"Bodle Technologies has developed a new type of ‘reflective’ display technology that uses a lot less power than traditional LCD and OLED screens. This technology could drastically reduce the cost and power required for screens, making it possible to have screens of all shapes and sizes just about anywhere."
