Lightfoot Raises $4 Million to Expand "Fitbit for Cars" Platform

  • Lightfoot, a UK-based car tech startup that sells a telematics system that gives real-time feedback to drivers combined with a rewards platform to incentivize good driving, has raised £3.2 million (~$4M) from London-based early-stage venture fund BGF

  • Former Dyson CEO Martin McCourt also contributed to the investment and will join Lightfoot's board as a non-executive chairman

  • The company was launched in 2013 by entrepreneur Mark Roberts and now has more than 20,000 drivers using the tech across more than 150 fleet clients, including Virgin Media, Dixons Carphone, Southern Water, Ecotricity, Greencore and Dyno Rod

  • Lightfoot is opening up to individual motorists with a UK consumer launch today and plans to expand the proposition globally.

    • ProblemTechnology

"Drivers are often unaware of their driving habits and the impact they have on fuel consumption, emissions, and safety. This lack of awareness leads to inefficient driving, increased costs, and environmental damage. "

      Solution

"Lightfoot provides drivers with real-time feedback on their driving habits and incentivizes them to improve their driving through a rewards platform. It aims to gamify the driving experience, encouraging drivers to adopt smoother driving techniques, thereby reducing fuel consumption, emissions, and accidents."
