SimplyCook, a UK-based recipe kit service that provides recipe cards and "ingredients kits" with herbs, spices, sauces, and other extras, has raised £2 million in further funding. Unlike other recipe kits, SimplyCook does not send fresh ingredients, aiming to complement a user's weekly grocery shopping and focus on recipe discovery and ingredient sourcing. The funding will be used for increased marketing spend and further investment in the company's recommendation technology and mobile app. SimplyCook's founder, Oli Ashness, believes the company will overtake HelloFresh's customer numbers in the UK this year.
