Network Locum Raises $7M to Expand Doctor-Staffing Platform in UK
Network Locum, a London-based healthcare startup that provides a staffing platform and workplace management software for the UK's National Health Service (NHS), has raised £5.3 million ($7 million) in a Series B funding round led by BGF Ventures
The company plans to use the new funding to increase its salesforce, make a big push into the hospital sector, and improve features on its mobile app
Network Locum was founded in 2011 by Melissa Morris, a former McKinsey and NHS consultant, who saw an opportunity to undercut fees being charged by recruitment agencies by creating a matching platform to help fill temporary staffing vacancies
The platform uses several criteria to match locums with vacancies, including their location, whether a particular doctor has worked at a particular hospital or GP surgery before, and the doctor's searching intent
Network Locum also handles payment for temporary staff, remitting locums fortnightly for completed shifts.
ProblemHealthcare
"The NHS, one of the world’s largest employers, spends 75% of its costs on staff and relies heavily on manual processes for staffing using agencies and in-house recruiters. This leads to inefficient and expensive staffing solutions."
Solution
"Network Locum provides a platform that combines SaaS-based staff management software with a marketplace of vetted locum doctors. This allows hospitals and GP surgeries to automate their staffing processes, reducing costs and improving efficiency. The platform also offers features such as time sheet management, payroll and expedited payment to doctors."
