Echion Tecnologies Secures £29 Million for Fast-Charging Battery Technology
Echion Tecnologies, a UK-based developer of niobium-based, fast-charging battery materials, has secured £29 million in Series B funding led by Volta Energy Technologies
The funding will be used to execute Echion's go-to-market strategy for its XNO® anode material, which enables lithium-ion batteries with fast charging capabilities, high energy density, and extended cycle life
The company's partnership with niobium producer CBMM will lead to the opening of a 2,000-tonne per year XNO® manufacturing facility this year.
ProblemTechnology
"Current lithium-ion batteries take too long to charge and can't handle extreme temperatures or high power demands, which limits their usefulness in a wide range of applications."
Solution
"Echion Technologies has developed a niobium-based anode material called XNO® that enables fast charging (less than ten minutes), high energy density even at low temperatures, and high power across a long cycle life. This makes the batteries ideal for industrial, commercial, and high-value applications that require reliability and performance."
