Geothermal Engineering Secures £15M Funding for Geothermal Projects in Cornwall
Geothermal Engineering, a UK-based developer and operator of geothermal plants, secured £15 million in funding from Kerogen Capital and Thrive Renewables PLC
The funding will be used to advance the company's deep geothermal plant at the United Downs site in Cornwall and prepare new geothermal sites in Cornwall that have received planning permission
Geothermal Engineering, founded in 2008, aims to provide 25 MWe of baseload electricity and 100 MWh of heat energy across its geothermal portfolio by 2028, enough for 70,000 homes.
ProblemRenewable Energy
"The UK's reliance on fossil fuels for energy is unsustainable and leads to greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change. Geothermal energy is a reliable and renewable source of energy that can help reduce the UK's carbon footprint."
Solution
"Geothermal Engineering develops and operates geothermal plants that tap into the Earth's heat to generate electricity and provide heat energy. They aim to provide 25 MWe of baseload electricity and 100 MWh of heat energy across its geothermal portfolio by 2028, enough heat and power for 70,000 homes."
