Oxis Energy UK Secures £3.75 Million Investment for Expansion
Oxis Energy UK Ltd, a UK-based maker of Lithium Sulfur cells for battery systems, is receiving a £3.75 million investment from the Aerotec Fund, a Brazilian Private Equity fund focused on Aerospace and advanced manufacturing
The company will use the funds to open a subsidiary in Brazil and expand its commercial reach throughout Latin America
Oxis Energy specializes in innovative Lithium Sulfur (Li-S) battery chemistry, cells and systems that do not comprise any rare earth metals and are suitable for the aerospace and electric bus industries
The company has been granted 108 patents with 108 pending and will collaborate with CODEMIG in the exploitation of lithium deposits in Minas Gerais.
ProblemTechnology
"Lithium-ion batteries are expensive, have a limited lifespan, and use rare earth metals, which are environmentally unsustainable. The electric vehicle and aerospace industries need batteries that are less expensive, more durable, and don’t rely on rare earth metals."
Solution
"Oxis Energy is developing a new type of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery that is cheaper, longer lasting, and does not require rare earth metals. This new battery technology has applications in the aerospace and electric bus industries."
