Tribosonics Secures £1.5M Funding for Smart Sensing Solutions

  • Tribosonics, a Sheffield-based IIOT company, raised £1.5M in funding led by NPIF – Mercia Equity Finance, and Mercia’s EIS funds

  • The company will use the funds to develop its ‘sensing as a service’ solutions, including polymerSENSE, which aims to reduce waste in the plastics recycling industry

  • Tribosonics embeds sensors in machinery to monitor factors such as friction, pressure, and temperature, providing data in real time to improve efficiency, extend plant life, and reduce maintenance and energy use

  • The company has a global client base, including ENGEL, a world-market leader in injection molding, and automotive parts manufacturer Novares.

"Many manufacturing companies waste valuable resources like plastics and polymers due to inefficient processes. This leads to increased production costs, environmental damage, and a lack of sustainability."

      Solution

"Tribosonics developed a 'sensing as a service' solution called polymerSENSE which uses embedded sensors to monitor factors like friction, pressure, and temperature within machinery. This real-time data helps companies improve process efficiency, reduce waste, extend equipment lifespan, and ultimately achieve greater sustainability."
