Cambridge GaN Devices Raises $19 Million in Series B Funding
Cambridge GaN Devices, a UK-based semiconductor company, has raised $19 million in Series B funding led by Parkwalk Advisors and BGF, with participation from IQ Capital, CIC, Foresight Williams Technology and Martlet Capital
The company will use the funds to begin mass production of its range of GaN transistors for power applications
Founded in 2016, Cambridge GaN Devices is a spin-out from the University of Cambridge and designs, develops and commercializes GaN transistors and ICs that enable a change in energy efficiency and compactness suitable for high-volume production.
ProblemTechnology
"Making electronics smaller and more energy-efficient is a challenge for the industry because of the limitations of existing silicon-based transistors."
Solution
"Cambridge GaN Devices has developed transistors based on gallium nitride (GaN) which can deliver much higher power, reduce energy consumption, and be much smaller than traditional silicon-based transistors."
