ClinSpec Diagnostics Secures £1.2 Million for Cancer Detection Test
ClinSpec Diagnostics, a University of Glasgow spin-out developing a rapid blood test for brain cancer, secured £1.2 million in funding
Backers include Mercia Fund Managers, the Scottish Investment Bank’s Co-Investment Fund and EOS Technology Partners
The funding will be used to create seven jobs, further develop the brain cancer test, and start work on a new test for prostate and pancreatic cancer
ClinSpec Diagnostics’ technology, which uses infra-red light and machine learning, is based on research by Dr Matthew J
Baker at the University of Strathclyde and has applications beyond medicine.
ProblemHealthcare
"Detecting brain cancer and other forms of cancer at an early stage is challenging, often leading to delayed treatment and reduced survival rates."
Solution
"ClinSpec Diagnostics has developed a blood test that can detect brain cancer within ten minutes, using infra-red light and machine learning, potentially improving survival rates through earlier detection."
