Carbogenics Secures £1 Million to Boost Green Energy Production
Carbogenics, a Scottish developer of technology that enhances green energy production, has raised £1 million in funding
The round was led by Green Angel Ventures, with participation from existing investors Scottish Enterprise and Old College Capital
Carbogenics will use the funds to open its first production facility in Scotland, enabling the launch of its bio-additive CreChar into the UK anaerobic digestion market
CreChar is made using a high-temperature low-oxygen process called Pyrolysis and helps stabilize the performance of anaerobic digestion plants, resulting in higher quantities and quality of biogas and biochar infused digestate
The company is also creating new roles and planning to raise further debt and investment finance in the coming months.
ProblemRenewable Energy
"Anaerobic digestion plants are inefficient and don't produce enough biogas. The by-product, digestate, is often low-quality and can't be used as fertilizer."
Solution
"Carbogenics has developed a bio-additive called CreChar that stabilizes the performance of anaerobic digestion plants and enhances green energy production from food and farming waste. CreChar results in higher quantities and quality of biogas and biochar infused digestate which sequesters carbon and enhances the fertilisation process."
