ZeroAvia Secures $30 Million to Advance Hydrogen-Electric Aviation
ZeroAvia, a UK-based leader in hydrogen-electric, zero-emission aviation, has raised $30 million in funding, bringing the Series B round to $68 million
Backers include Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, NEOM, AENU, and International Airlines Group (IAG)
The company plans to use the funds for building infrastructure at airport sites to support live demonstrations of its Hydrogen Airport Refueling Ecosystem (HARE), in preparation for routes carrying passengers and cargo in the next few years
The investment will also advance ZeroAvia’s 2-5MW hydrogen-electric powertrain development program, aiming to power 40-80 seat aircraft with zero-emission engines by 2026
ProblemTechnology Infrastructure
"Aviation is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, making it a key target for the fight against climate change. The current reliance on fossil fuels makes flying unsustainable and environmentally harmful. "
Solution
"ZeroAvia is developing hydrogen-electric powertrains for aircraft, which will enable airlines to operate flights with zero emissions. Their technology aims to replace fossil fuels with a clean, sustainable alternative, making flying more environmentally friendly. They are initially targeting short-haul flights, with plans to expand to longer distances in the future."
