Cortexica Visual Systems Secures £1.5 Million Investment from Imperial Innovations
Cortexica Visual Systems, a London-based visual search company, received a £1.5 million investment from Imperial Innovations
Imperial Innovations, which first invested in Cortexica in 2009, will hold a 73.4% equity stake in the company after the conversion of loan stock
Cortexica plans to use the funds to expand its customer base and win new business
The company's FindSimilar™ technology uses algorithms that mimic the human brain to recognize images and objects, returning visually similar items from an online database or inventory when users take a photograph with their mobile device
Cortexica has signed up ten new customers in the past six months and has early adopters including online retailers Zalando, ShopStyle, Style Thief, and Trendabl.
ProblemTechnology
"Online retailers struggle to provide shoppers with relevant product recommendations based on visual similarity, leading to lost sales and frustrated customers."
Solution
"Cortexica offers image recognition and visual search software that uses algorithms to mimic the human brain, enabling online shoppers to find visually similar products by taking a photo with their mobile device. This helps retailers increase sales, improve customer satisfaction, and boost engagement."
