NERD Secures £8 Million Seed Funding for Graphene-Enhanced Concrete
Nationwide Engineering Research and Development (NERD) has raised £8 million in seed funding to commercialize its graphene-enhanced concrete called Concretene
Developed in partnership with the University of Manchester’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre, Concretene is 30-50% stronger than traditional concrete and aims to reduce CO2 emissions from cement production
The funding, led by LocalGlobe, will support the company's expansion and deployment of Concretene in various sectors.
ProblemConstruction
"Traditional concrete is not strong enough and its production contributes to 8% of global CO2 emissions."
Solution
"Concretene is a graphene-enhanced concrete that is 30-50% stronger than standard concrete and is non-disruptive to the construction industry."
